Whenever Red Star Belgrade meet their local city rivals Partizan, the atmosphere is rancid with hatred and aggression. In recent years, hooliganism and sporadic acts of violence have caused attendances to fall dramatically.

In the  semi-final of the Serbia and Montenegro Cup, only 8,000 spectators risked turning up, an all-time low attendance for a derby game.
