Seles was the world's No 1 ranked female tennis player when she was attacked and stabbed during a game in a tournament in Hamburg in 1993.
Gnter Parche, an obsessive fan of Sele's rival Steffi Graff, stabbed Seles in between the shoulders with a steak knife as she took a break on the side of the court. She returned in 1995 and went onto win the Australian Open and help the US win the Fed Cup in 1996 and 2000.
