This prison was originally built as a barracks for the French armed forces but it has since become one of the most brutal prisons in the world. Now torture and executions are commonplace within the walls.

The most dramatic incident to date occurred on June 27 1980 when approximately 500 inmates were killed by guards and commandos. To this day no reason has been given by authorities for these deaths.
