The Town Of Ramsgate (Wapping, East London)
The cellars of this pub have a grisly history, having held men press-ganged into serving on ships and convicts destined for transportation to the Colonies.
Execution Dock was situated nearby and it was there that the condemned were hanged then chained to posts in the river. The tide would rise over the corpses three times before their bodies were removed as a warning to all.
