The Old Bank of England (Fleet Street, London City)
Standing on the original site of the Bank of England building, this pub has a gruesome history. It is said to be the place where the notorious Sweeney Todd, (the Demon Barber of Fleet Street) killed and butchered his victims.
Folklore would have us believe that Sweeney would slit his customers' throats then dump the bodies down into the basement through a trap door beneath his shop. Then the pie maker from the shop next door would bake with the bodies!
