Brigade of Gurkhas
Country of origin: UK
Unit motto: "It is better to die than live a coward"
A British unit, the famed Gurkhas consist largely of Nepalese soldiers. Their origins lie back in the 1800s when their number impressed the British army so much, in the Nepal War that they were offered a place within the East India Company.
When India broke away from Great Britain in 1947 the Gurkas found themselves split under the Tripartite Agreement. Six regiments joined the post-independence Indian army while the remaining four became full fledged members of the British Army.
