Triumphantly launched in July 2008, while not technically the first, this is the smartphone that started it all with its revolutionary touchscreen. The device aimed to become a superior mobile phone, music device (thanks to Apple's own iPod) and an internet browser all in one.
Target audience:Younger users, music lovers and those who have distanced themselves from Microsoft.
Verdict:It may look great, sound fantastic and feel brilliant as well as housing a host of individual applications but it's not without its glitches. The battery life is easily gone, the screen has been known to freeze and it's exclusively on O2 which ties you down.
