This biography was inspired by the 1984 Oscar-winning documentary of the life and the aftermath of Harvey MilkÂ’s assassination, titled The Times of Harvey Milk.
This film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director, Broadcast Film Critics Association Award nomination for Best Director and a Satellite Award nomination for Best Director. It also received a Directors Guild of America (DGA) nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Motion Pictures.
