Omar Al-Bashir

In 1989 Al-Bashir took power in Sudan following a military coup. Soon claiming the country's presidency and allying with the leader of the National Islamic Front, Hassan al-Turabi, Al-Bashir led his nation into years of internal war.
In 2004, following over a year of conflict in the now notorious western province of Dafur, the American government declared that genocide had been committed within the area. However Al-Bashir remains free and in office to this day.
