Steven Gerrard, the celebrated Liverpool football captain, has been charged with assault and affray after an incident in a bar in which a part-time DJ was allegedly glassed.
The England star and two other men will appear in court over an alleged brawl in Southport, Merseyside, which stemmed from an argument over music.
Marcus McGee, a 34-year-old father-of-two, needed four stitches to his head and lost a tooth in the incident at The Lounge Inn bar.
