In deep waters, usually around the Antarctic
Caught in February 2007 by the crew of a New Zealand fishing vessel, this Colossal Squid weighed in at an astounding 71 stone. It was frozen and is only now recieving a full scientific study.
A terrifying predator, the Colossal Squid has eyes as big as dinner plates, a huge beak and 25 razor-sharp swivelling hooks on the end of its tentacles. Scientists say there are much larger Colossal Squid in the waters of Antarctica - some as big as double-decker buses.
