In oceans and seas across the world
Contrary to popular belief, only a few sharks are dangerous to humans. Out of more than 360 species, only four have been involved in a large number of fatal attacks: the great white, tiger, oceanic whitetip and bull sharks.
These sharks may sometimes attack and kill people, but the perception of these animals as maneaters has been exaggerated through the 'Jaws' film series. In 2005, there were a total of 58 unprovoked attacks recorded worldwide, of which only four were fatal.
