Ann Bancroft is an author, a teacher, and one hell of an adventurer. She was the first woman to successfully finish a number of arduous expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. She was also the first woman to ski across Greenland and she led a four woman expedition to the South Pole.
This expedition was the first group of women to reach the South Pole on skis. Her achievements led to her induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame for the United States.
