Sakhan Dosova is not only the world's oldest woman, but the oldest person in the world. Born in 1879, when Queen Victoria was 22 years from leaving her throne and the lightbulb made its first appearance, the mother of 10 is an amazing 130 this year, stripping American Edna Parker of the record by an incredible 16 years.
Although officials in her home of Kazakhstan are yet to confirm the authenticity of the claim, Dosova does have her passport and other documents, and has been visited by her local Mayor to congratulate her after she was discovered during a recent census.
And what's her secret?:
"I don't have any special secret," Dosova said. "I've never taken pills and if I was ill, I used granny's remedies to cure me. I have never eaten sweets. But I love kurt (a salty dried cottage cheese) and talkan (ground wheat)."
