Green brushing
The holistic market warns that modern commercially bought products such as mouthwash and toothpaste are contaminated with bad preservatives, mercury and petrochemical based waxes.
Recycled toothbrushes (themselves recyclable) that are cheap and effective are available through the company Preserve.
Make your own toothpaste:
25ml or 2tsp vegetable glycerine
50ml or 4tbsp of bicarbonate of soda
Five drops of an essential oil such as peppermint, lemon or fennel
Shake up the mixture and store it in a jar or even in your own squeezable tube (available from a chemist).
The essential oil is a natural preservative but it's recommended not to make more than 75ml worth of toothpaste per go.
