Syrian rebels linked to alleged execution as video is posted online

Thursday’s killings in Syria has sparked concerns from human rights group

A video posted on the internet is said to be footage of rebels allegedly carrying out executions on Syrian troops, according to reports. The fighting in Syria became more intense on Thursday, and the supposed executions are believed to have happened between two military checkpoints; one being near Aleppo, north-west Syria.

 

The BBC has said in their report that the human rights group Amnesty International would associate the actions with “war crime” if the killings are true.

 

In a statement, Amnesty said: “This shocking footage depicts a potential war crime in progress, and demonstrates an utter disregard for international humanitarian law by the armed group in question.”

 

According to a report by The Independent, over 30 people were killed in Thursday’s operations, and the video apparently shows rebels kicking troops.

 

It is understood that the army continued their attacks in Syria.

 

A group based in the UK called The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) have claimed that 150 people were thought to have died on Thursday, with other reports, such as one from The Independent, saying the figure was less at 120 people.

 

Fighting continued throughout the recent Muslim festival Eid al-Adha, which is a holiday that spans over three or four days and ended at the start of the week on Monday 26th October.
