Royal British Legion uses Thunderclap technology for Remembrance Sunday

The Royal British Legion will promote Remembrance Sunday through social media

The second Sunday of November is traditionally Remembrance Day. This day is dedicated for those people who have fought for the country and died in the process. Remembrance Sunday is a way to honour these people.

In order to reach out to more Britons, the Royal British Legion will be using Thunderclap technology to allow Twitter and Facebook users to simultaneously send the same message.

Thunderclap is the “first-ever crowd speaking platform that helps users be heard by saying something together.”

The message: “I'll be remembering the fallen at 11 o'clock #2MinuteSilence #LestWeForget,” will be sent at 9am (GMT) on Remembrance Sunday.

Helen Hill, head of remembrance at The Royal British Legion, told the Mail Online: “We hope to create the largest ever show of online remembrance by using the communicative power of social media to remind millions of Britons that they have a very personal opportunity to honour the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”

 

Hashem Bajwa, who is linked to Thunderclap, said: “Twitter is a wonderful way to say something, but it's difficult to be heard.

 

“Thunderclap lets people be heard by saying something together.”
