Michelle Heaton had double mastectomy over breast cancer concerns

Former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton followed Sharon Osbourne’s footsteps to avoid breast cancer

Michelle Heaton has undergone a double mastectomy after learning that she has BRCA2 gene, which makes her prone to getting breast cancer. The same thing was done by Sharon Osbourne.

Heaton, a former band member Liberty X, took to Twitter to tell everyone she was okay and that the operation went well.

She said: “Thank u (you) for all your lovely tweets. It went well, but I'm obviously very sore and disorientated still. I have the best doctors and husband!”

The 33-year-old opted for the preventative surgery after reportedly learning she was up to 80per cent more likely to develop breast cancer because of the said gene.

Last month, Heaton talked to British magazine OK! to say that she’s going through the operation because she didn’t have a choice.

“I really have no other option. I'm doing it to save my life. I don't want to live waiting for cancer to strike. I'm more scared than I (have) ever been in my life. I don't want to die young.”
