Mark Fowler is to be put out of his misery in EastEnders, according to reports over the weekend.
The Square favourite, played by Todd Carty, will finally have any chance of return removed after the show's writers decided to kill him off.
The News of the World revealed yesterday that Mark will lose his drawn-out battle with Aids in the coming months.
But while Mark will not be around, the send off will be a chance for a reunion of characters past and present to get together to bid him well in the hereafter, and remember his contribution to East End life.
The Sunday paper said Leslie Grantham (Den), Leonard Fenton (Dr Legg) and a host of current stars were on set to film the funeral - which took place at North Watford Cemetery near EastEnders' studios at Borehamwood.
Mark left the soap as he rode off on his motorbike last year.
Carty has since joined ITV police drama 'The Bill'.
He told the newspaper: 'As I'm no longer in the show it's good to have closure for both the character and me.'
