Actress Kristin Chenoweth has left her show The Good Wife to recover from the injuries she suffered after she was struck by a piece of lighting equipment while on the set. 

 

The West Wing actress, 44, was confined in a hospital for treatment after she was hit on the head last month. The lighting silk was blown out of place by a gust of wind, said the CBS network. Immediately after the accident, she was put in a neck brace and was driven to the hospital in an ambulance.

 

Lighting silk is a cloth used to soften or deflect artificial light or sunlight during filming. It is stretched over a lightweight frame made of plastic or metal. 

 

The actress, who starred in the US TV drama as a reporter, said that it was ‘with deep regret’ that she was leaving the show. “Due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife at this time,” she said. She joined the show for its fourth season in a recurring role as a political journalist in a bid to uncover dirt on the lead character of the show, Alicia, whose husband was running for governor.

 

She also assured fans that she was ‘getting better slowly’ and thanked everyone for the concern. 

 

The actress has also starred in Glee, and has won a Tony award for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. She also won an Emmy for best supporting actress for her role in the TV series Pushing Daisies.
