Tom Cruise has confessed his love for Katie Holmes is the real thing.

The Hollywood heartthrob, who began romancing the 'Dawson's Creek' beauty last month, revealed yesterday (19.05.05) their newfound love is genuine and, despite their age gap, they have lots in common.

Cynics had questioned whether 42-year-old Tom's choice of partner - 15 years his junior - was simply a publicity stunt for their upcoming movies.

But the Hollywood heavyweight gushed on America's Access Hollywood TV show: "I love this woman. She's magnificent. I'm not going to hide it, I am so happy and I can't contain it, I'm not going to pretend."

"We go scuba diving together. She likes all the stuff I do, she's funny and smart."

The 'Mission: Impossible' star also revealed he was huge fan, adding: "That girl is really talented."

Last month, it was claimed Katie was a virgin after she reportedly told friends she didn't believe in sex until her wedding night.

The alleged admission came as twice-married Cruise romanced his new lover by filling a penthouse suite at Rome's swanky Hassler Hotel with hundreds of red roses.

One source revealed: "He wanted to create the perfect romantic atmosphere and ordered as many roses as we could find to fill the suite."
