Van Morrison is on course to gatecrash the top of the album chart this weekend - over 40 years since his first release.
The Irish singer's new album 'Magic Time' looks set to debut in the top five, but is also battling it out with current rap sensation Akon, Basement Jax and Gwen Stefani to land the coveted top spot.
The high-entry marks an incredible comeback for Van Morrison and coincides with the 40th anniversary of his first release - the single 'Don't Start Crying Now' which came out in 1964, recorded with his first band Them.
Earlier in the week, the legendary vocalist recorded a special performance for popular BBC 2 show 'Later...With Jools Holland' showcasing tracks from the critically acclaimed new album, his first release on new label Geffen.
