Jarvis Cocker is being lined up to provide the soundtrack for the next Harry Potter movie, it is being reported today.
The gangly pop star - who shot to fame in the 1990s as the frontman of Pulp - is also planning to make a cameo appearance on the fourth Potter film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
According to the Sun newspaper, Cocker has been picked by director Mike Newell to make sure that the Potter music appeals to the boy wizard's hordes of teenage fans.
The paper also claims that Newell canvassed the views of his teenage stars, including Harry Potter alter-ego Daniel Radcliffe, on who should get the job.
The previous three Harry Potter adaptations have been scored by movie music legend John Williams, the man who wrote the themes for Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones and Jaws.
A source told the Sun: "Everyone here is really excited about Jarvis being involved in Goblet Of Fire.
"He is a very talented musician who is a big fan of movies and knows exactly how they work. You may just think Jarvis is the bloke in specs who fronted Pulp but he is a man with many hidden depths."
