After astonishing the world - and the box offices - with his bloody and self-financed account of the last days of Jesus in The Passion of the Christ, Mel Gibson's next move is reportedly a sitcom.
The Lethal Weapon and Braveheart star is to become executive produced on a new series for US television network ABC, entitled Complete Savages.
He is also reported to be directing some episodes and even taking a cameo role in one of them.
The show features a family called the Savages, headed by Keith Carradine as a father attempting to keep control of five unruly teenage sons.
Carradine told UTV.net that the Australian star is a natural for comedy.
"He has an incredible comedic sense. His brain for comedy seems to be wired halfway between the Three Stooges and Chuck Jones."
Gibson has successfully starred in comedies in the past, in spite of his recently-found gravity, including Maverick and What Women Want.
