Jamie Oliver attacks the coalition for lack of support

Jamie Oliver said that the last government is ‘better than this one’.

Jamie Oliver isn’t getting the kind of support he needs to improve school lunches from the government.

 

The celebrity chef and advocate against childhood obesity discussed his plan of improving young people’s relationship with food in an interview with Time Out magazine.

He admits that he has to fund it because of government’s lack of support.

 

Oliver said: “It’ll be funded by me ‘cos no b****** in Government is going to do it.

 

“Then once we get to that stage, when we get parents behind us at that level, we can tell the Government what to do.

 

“Actually the last Government was better than this one. Not that I’m politically inclined, but trying to come up with situations where harder-to-reach children had a better chance, this lot don’t have that in their hearts, I’m afraid.”

Unlike with the current Coalition, Oliver got support from previous leaders. His advocacy was welcomed by former Prime Minister Tony Blair. In fact, in 2009 the celebrity chef was invited to prepare a meal for G20 leaders in Downing Street.
