Fans of Ja Rule have something to celebrate next year. The rapper, who was put behind bars last year, is set to be released on February 21st, 2013, according to his official website.
The hit-maker, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, started serving time in upstate New York in June, 2011 following his conviction of weapons charges relating to a 2007 arrest.
Later on, he was handed another 28 months in prison for tax evasion. According to court documents, the rapper did not pay taxes on $3million worth of earnings between 2004 to 2006.
Ja Rule was expected to stay in prison until 2015. However, according to his official website, his stint in prison will be cut short. It was not confirmed if this is due to good behavior or other reasons.
A post on the star's official website reads: “Ja Rule's prison sentence is coming to an end. The sentence began on June 7th 2011. During that time he is (sic) gained his high school diploma and released his 7th studio album Pain is love 2 (PIL2) with the help of long time producer 7 Aurelius. He is expected to be released on 02/21/2013.”
