November is Mouth Cancer Action Month, which aims to raise awareness of the disease in order to save many lives through early detection. Based on reports, statistics show that mouth cancer rates may rise with the next generation if not prevented.
Risk factors include chewing tobacco, smoking, poor diet, and alcohol abuse. Just like any other cancer, early detection is the best way to cure mouth cancer.
If you have mouth ulcer that doesn’t heal in three weeks that causes red and white patches in the mouth and unusual lumps or swelling in the mouth, it’s best to get it checked out according to British Dental Health Foundation.
People are more likely to be successful in detecting mouth ulcers correctly if they’re armed with the right information.
It is understood that mouth ulcers are not infectious, and some people are affected at least once in their lifetime. It is an exposed nerve that makes the ulcer painful.
Although harmless, mouth ulcers that do no heal after 10 days may be an indication of a more serious health condition, such as mouth cancer, so if you’re concerned get it checked out.
