Singer Whitney Houston has cancelled three British shows on her touring schedule due to illness.

The 46-year-old singer, best known for her soulful rendition of Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You' from 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack, has been suffering from an upper respiratory illness, and was forced to pull out of a Paris concert on Tuesday.

The show was meant to kick off the European leg of her comeback tour, I Look to You from the album of the same name.

However, a recent gig in Australia was meant with negative reviews from the critics and audience members, as the star appeared breathless and failed to reach the high notes which form her trademark sound.

Houston has has now been announced she will not be performing two concerts in Manchester on Thursday and Friday (April 8 and 9), or in Glasgow on the following Sunday.

The cancelled shows have been rescheduled, with the Manchester dates moving to the end of her tour - June 16 and 17. The Glasgow show has been pushed back to May 1.

Original tickets will be valid for the new dates, but if fans are unable to attend they will be eligible for a refund.

Reports recently surfaced that Houston and some members of her crew are suffering from an infection.

She is reportedly in a hospital in Paris receiving treatment for swollen mucus membranes in her nose and pharynx.
