Reports are indicating that 14 members of the Hollyoaks cast will be cut from the soap.

Those facing the chop include pin-up Elize du Toit, who plays Izzy, and show stalwart Mikyla Dodd, who plays Chloe Bruce.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror an "insider" commented: "Keeping the same cast year after year makes a show go stale. That's what happened to Brookside and Phil [Redmond - the soap's director] won't let it happen to Hollyoaks."

Redmond was also in charge of Brookside, which was cancelled last year.

The other actors facing the axe, according to the paper, are: Gemma Atkinson (Lisa Hunter), Alex Carter (Lee Hunter), John Graham Davies (Les Hunter), Max Brown (Kristian Hargreaves), Darren Bransford (Nick O'Connor), Jamie Luke (Norman Sankofa), Katherine Dow-Blyton (Sally Hunter), Kelly Greenwood (Zara Morgan), Ben Gerrard (Cameron Clark), Helen Noble (Abby Davies), Andrew Newton (Robbie Flynn) and Daniel Hyde (Scott Anderson).

"Some have already been told their contracts won't be renewed in October - they are completely gutted," the source added.
