Cult 1970s TV show "Monkey" is set for an unexpected revival after thirteen unseen episodes were discovered.

The dubbed Japanese mythical fantasy show about the animal spirit Monkey was a popular children's show, and it will now return to the small screen after the original actors began work on dubbing each episode into English.

Andrew Sachs - famous for his role as waiter Manuel in comedy Fawlty Towers - returns as Yu-Lung and David Collings reprises his role as Monkey.

The pair had never actually met before being united on the BBC Breakfast show on Monday as the voiceovers were recorded separately in a studio in London's Soho.

Mr Sachs said: "We had to put on cod Japanese accents ... I thought it would be a bit strange but it seemed to work. Kids from the 70s still remember it as their favourite programme."

The programme is one of many children's shows that have cornered the market in nostalgia with thirty-something adults.

The programme followed the adventures of priest Tripitaka, aided by Monkey, Pigsy, Sandy, and a horse that used to be a dragon, as they travel from China to India to fetch the Buddhist scriptures
