The four-time Oscar nominee has had mainstream and independent success in the movies, but does he cut it as a musician? It's a mixed bag. The album is pretty cheesy but fun all the same without having any illusions of topping the charts. Bridges writes many of his own songs and backs himself on guitar for this folk-pop-rock journey that makes nice background music.

Success rating: Three stars for the Dude, whose flaws are covered by a neat backing band and the fact that it's, well, JEFF BRIDGES!
