Tagline: Life is a contact sport
Aging football coach, Tony DÂ’Amato (Al Pacino), is struggling with his personal and professional life while trying to hold together the Miami Sharks. He is dealt a cruel blow when the star quarterback, Cap Rooney (Dennis Quaid), is injured and Tony is forced to turn to third-string benchwarmer, Willia Beaman (Jamie Foxx).
Beaman seizes what he believes to be his last shot at the big-time and turns in a string of stunning performances forcing Tony to question his traditional approach to the game and, indeed, life itself.
As the film unfolds, it becomes clear that marketing and business are as much a part of the game as the sport.
