Food technology is taught in some schools already but as the system is so grade-orientated it doesn't allow students to enjoy or explore the world of cooking in their own direction – after all it's them and not the markers who will be eating the finished products.

Instead of making set dishes, pupils should be given the opportunity to improvise with their ingredients and be taught how to cook on a budget or for different sets of guests.
