The classic of the cover-up genre, 'All the President's Men' tells the true story of the two infamous reporters who broke the Watergate scandal which eventually led to Nixon's resignation. The investigative duo was Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford) who probe a burglary at the Watergate hotel which has ties with Republicans and the White House.
For a film that relies on two men going talking to a lot of people or simply being sat on the phone, director Alan Pakula does an incredible job of keeping the tension high, most notably with the scenes of their cloak and dagger informant, Deep Throat (Hal Holbrook), in an underground parking lot. Journalism and the press have never collided so powerfully - even the title sequence mixes in sounds of gunshots and whips to the rhythm of the typewriters.
