The Academy Award nominated actor, most famed for his role in 1986 coming of age picture 'Stand By Me' was hailed critics as one of America's most promising actors.

But in 1993, aged 23, the star died of a drug overdose outside a nightclub in Hollywood after taking a cocktail of heroin, cocaine, valium, marijuana and ephedrine.
