Players: Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins

The Magpies have been sitting on the potential goal scoring genius of Martins for quite some time, with managers such as Arsne Wenger longing to get his claws into the young and lightening fast-striker.

Having teamed him up with the legendary Michael Owen, the board of directors at St James' Park should have been expecting miracles from the pairing last year, but largely due to injury and management crisis, the two strikers did not deliver.

2008 is a new season and the Magpies look like they will come out fighting once more, full of Tyneside determination and Newcastle Brown Ale. And hopefully, if Owen can avoid stubbing his toe again, this will be both strikers' year to shine.
