Wanting to work on solo projects was one of the major factors that caused the group to split. Ringo told NME: "I've got things to do and George has got things to do and Paul has his solo album and John has his peace thing. We can't do everything at once."

Although the Beatles never reunited, all four had hugely successful solo careers. Some of their albums featured contributions by other former Beatles, however, Lennon and McCartney never recorded together again.
