Most films directed by David Lynch ('Blue Velvet', 'Lost Highway', TV's 'Twin Peaks') seem to make no sense, and this certainly isn't an exception. The film's only thing to latch on is the lead character, Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), a hopeful actress, who arrives in LA looking to hit the big time.
It doesn't really go to plan, as she gets sucked into a world where she meets a car crash survivor (Laura Harring) who is on the run. Naturally they end up in bed together. Other interesting (and loosely connected) moments include a film director getting covered in paint and a bungled hitman messing up a job.
