The fake: Somehow, wearing the same shirt, presenter Paul Evers hosts Bid TV and Price-drop TV – two separate channels - both at exactly the same time, live at 2:06pm on Friday July 31 2009.

What really happened: The auction TV company Sit-up Limited, who run both channels, used pre-recorded material combined with live bids. However, the company stressed that viewers' bids were live and it was just the presenter's role that was pre-recorded.

Sit-Up's chief executive Ian Percival said: "The price and the quantity are live - as shown on the graphics - but the video is pre-recorded. We've only done it a couple of times before."
