The actor was sacked from his role as Les Battersby over allegations that he insulted fans during a drunken night out.

The News of the World claimed the actor bad-mouthed his co-stars at a restaurant in Stockport and made sexual remarks about his on screen wife Cilla, played by Wendi Peters. It was also reported that he discussed the outcome of Tracy Barlow's murder trial.

Bruce had worked on Coronation Street for 10 years.
