Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip actually met in 1939 when the Queen was just 13, seeing each other quite frequently at social occasions.

The prince proposed in 1946 and the date was set for the 20 November 1947.

The Queen wore an ivory silk dress with an interwoven flower design, encrusted with pearls and crystal.
