Scientists have accomplished the crazy by managing to get a heart beating again after days of inactivity and an acid bath. They've even grown their own "three-dimensional" heart!

The process requires a dead heart to be stripped of its cells through the use of a strong detergent. All that will remain is the extracellular matrix - a kind of scaffold made from tissue which is then injected with healthy new cells from a patient or human embryo.
