Real life inspiration: Joseph Pistone

In reality: Joseph Dominick Pistone was an undercover FBI agent of Sicilian heritage who successfully infiltrated the Bonanno Mafia family. He did so under the alias of Donnie Brasco.

In the movies: Pistone was brought to life as the lead character in Mike Newell's critically acclaimed masterpiece 'Donnie Brasco'. He was played on screen by Johnny Depp.
