Everybody likes a drink at New Year, afterall it's the perfect time to unwind and let go of the previous year. More and more people, however, are becoming victims of rape, theft or serious injury when drinking.

You must take extra care if you're venturing into your local club on New Year's Eve - unsightly people may lurk, looking for drunken victims.

Always make sure that you keep good care of your possessions and always remember to stick together as a group. Never let anyone go home alone and always ensure that any taxis you get in are registered.

If nothing else, alcohol can cause embarrassment - and some people may not forget your behaviour for years to come!
