The study, 'Food Heaven and Hell' by the Waitrose supermarket chain has uncovered a selection of the worst 'edible sinners' to mark the 100th issue of Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine.
To begin the top 10 is an off-the-scale heart stopper. The deep fried mars bar created in 1995, is a highly-calorific fattening invention, which was created at a chip shop in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
Research dietician Dr Catherine Hankey, from the department of human nutrition at Glasgow University, said that the sickly sweet is one of the worst things we can ever eat because "it is very high in calories, contains lots of sugar and encourages tooth decay".
