9. Royal Liver Building, Liverpool
The Royal Liver Building is one of the city of Liverpool's most recognisable landmarks. It stands at 90 metres (295 feet) and has 13 floors. Its architectural masterpiece is the pair of clock towers, from which a ship's crew could tell the time as it passed en route along the river. At night-time, the clock dials are illuminated, adding a spectral grace to what is already considered one of the finest city skylines in the country.
