Jason Statham could be set to replace Shia LaBeouf in Transformers
The British actor is to take LaBeoufÂ’s character in the popular film franchise it has been reported.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is said to be LaBeoufÂ’s last film where he takes on the character of Sam Witwicky, which he has played since 2007.
Statham who is the girlfriend of Rosie Huntington-Whitely who replaced Megan Fox in the films is said to be the favourite take over.
A source told Showbiz Spy: "One of the stars being mentioned is Rosie's boyfriend Jason Statham.
"It's clear the franchise still has huge potential, but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction.
"Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be in added bonus in marketing the movie."
Transformers has been a hit with audiences worldwide.
The films have grossed over $1 billion at the global box office and the third film, Dark of the Moon is set to follow suit after achieving early box office success in its opening weekend.
The 43 year old who shot to fame in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels will be next seen in Killer Elite which is released later this year, starring Clive Owen and Robert De Niro.
