Goldfinger (1964)
Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frbe) is obsessed with gold. He drives an extremely heavy car loaded with gold, he owns a gold pistol and he even paints his women in gold. It seems only natural that he would hatch a plan to rob the gold supply at Fort Knox.
However what he's really doing is planting a bomb given to him by the Chinese to blow up the aforementioned supply and increase the value of his own. It may sounds cunning but this opens up one epic character flaw.
Goldfinger would never sell his precious gold for petty cash; he'd only want more so why blow up such a gleaming supply when it was right at his fingertips? Plus his plan would only make it harder to acquire more gold in the future. There's no silver medal for finishing second either.
