Diamonds are Forever (1971)
This outing sees the smarmy Charles Gray as Bond's arch nemesis and pet lover Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Here he highlights the danger of extreme cosmetic surgery in creating an army of look-alikes in order to see through his diamond smuggling scheme. He even clones his cat.
This gives Bond plenty of target practice as he despatches Blofeld's mirror images but the actual point of creating clones is ultimately useless as his plan to create a giant laser to hold the world to ransom generates quite some interest.
The real problem is that he got greedy - simply continuing to corner the diamond market would've made him king. Also his choices in henchmen were terrible - two athletic, over zealous women (Bambi and Thumper) and two camp, inept assassins whose best weapon is an explosive cake. Which fails.
