Doom joy for Pike

British actress Rosamund Pike has landed a role in Doom.

British actress Rosamund Pike has landed a role in the video game remake Doom.

Pike is best known for her role as the traitorous Miranda Frost in Bond flick Die Another Day. She is currently filming Pride And Prejudice with Matthew MacFayden and Donald Sutherland.

Doom is the latest in a series of big screen titles based on successful computer games, which has included Tomb Raider and Resident Evil.

Dwayne Johnson, better known as former wrestler The Rock, is leading the cast, which also features The Bourne Supremacy star Karl Urban.

The Rock has become hot property since making the switch from professional wrestling to acting, having starred in The Scorpion King and more recently Welcome To The Jungle opposite Seann William Scott.

In the Doom video game, players take on the role of marines patrolling a futuristic landscape and killing various mutants with a devastating array of weaponry.

The movie is due for release next year.
